Security and access
Security is part of facilities management rather than a separate world. Locking up at night, holding the keys, answering the alarm at three in the morning and keeping the CCTV actually working are all jobs on the same building as everything else, and they are easier when one company holds them.
What is included
Every item below is quoted on its own, or bundled into a single monthly contract with the rest of the building's services.
Nobody should be driving to site at 3am
In most small organisations, alarm response falls to whoever lives closest. It works until the third false activation in a month, and it is not a reasonable thing to ask of a member of staff.
Keyholding moves that responsibility to Kairos. The keys are held securely, the alarm receiving centre calls Kairos rather than the client, and someone attends, checks the building and either resets it or escalates.
Systems that are maintained rather than installed and forgotten
CCTV that has not recorded for four months, a door entry panel with three dead fobs on it, an intruder alarm nobody has serviced since the previous tenant — these are extremely common, and they are all discovered at the worst possible moment.
Maintenance of the systems is scheduled alongside the rest of the building's servicing, so the check happens on a date rather than after an incident.

What is the difference between keyholding and guarding?
Keyholding means Kairos holds your keys and attends when something happens, such as an alarm activation or a lock-up that was missed. Guarding means an officer is physically present on site for an agreed period. Most clients need the first and only occasionally need the second.
Who attends when the alarm goes off?
Kairos does. The alarm receiving centre is given Kairos as the keyholder, someone attends, checks the building, resets where it is safe to do so and reports back with what was found.
Can you just do the lock-up and unlock?
Yes. Opening and securing a building at fixed times is one of the most common standalone arrangements, particularly for churches, community buildings and small offices.
